A String data file contains a lines of text that can be accessed as a one dimensional array. Comment lines may also be included and are not added to the array. Blank lines are treated as empty lines of text and are included. You can optionally include a check sum to ensure the integrity of the data.

• Since comments are ignored they are not included in the check sum. Comment lines are denoted by a colon in the first column.


• Only printable characters are allowed in a Data file (no tabs).


• You can quote lines in String data files to encode non-printable characters, blank lines, comments, and lines beginning with a double quote. Quoted text use the same syntax as Gilda quotes, however the quote delimiters must be a double quote.


• End of line delimiters in the data file may be Return/Line Feed, Line Feed, Return, or Line Feed/Return.
